Ships need fuel to run on. This comes in two varieties: refined and unrefined. Unrefined is cheaper, but it increases the wear and tear on your drives.

This dialog lists the amount of either. You can purchase more from it, or dump the current load (for example if you wanted to clear out some unrefined fuel). You can also increase or decrease the size of your fuel tanks, swapping with cargo space.
