HoldThis is one of the more complicated dialogs. It is used for buying and selling cargo and freight. Cargo is bought by a merchant on speculation,. The merchant assumes all responsibility for it and they can sell it anywhere they find profitable. Freight, on the other hand, is commissioned transport. A fixed cost per ton is paid and it must be taken the the contracted destination. A 1000Cr per ton down payment is made and 2000Cr per ton is received when delivered.  Failing to deliver contracted freight gets you in trouble with the local authorities.

The top of the screen lists various information pertinent to making a decision as to sales. If a destination has been selected then you can toggle between viewing cargo and freight available for purchase.

The Dockside view shows what cargo or freight is available on the dock. This may be sorted by value or size in increasing or decreasing order. Clicking the label to the right of Dockside will toggle between them ($+, $-, #+, #-). Clicking on Dockside itself will select as many items as possible, from top to bottom in the selected order, until either capacity or credit limit is reached.

Clicking Buy Cash or Buy Credit (when enabled) will purchase the selected items. They will not immediately appear in your hold. There is a four day delivery delay.

Double clicking a line item will cause its details to appear below the list. This is important, for example, if you are purchasing a perishable item and you want to make sure you can get it to the destination in time.

The right-hand side of the display lists what is in your hold. It is selectable and sortable by the same methods. The line items list the current bid-price for the items, with the original purchase price in brackets. If you dock at a pirate base you have the option of selling your freight for one quarter of thecargo pricefor that freight. You do run the risk of being blackballed for failure of delivery though,

You also have the choice to ditch unwanted cargo.
