Art can be beautiful. Art can be representational. Art can be abstract, meaningful, and communicate ideas as well as look nice. Art has always been controversial, but lately, it has reached new heights with works like "Piss Christ", and unintentionally with Chris Ofili's "Holy Virgin Mary" made with elephant poop. Art has been all things to everyone, bridging the gaps between physical sense and emotion. Artists seek to communicate feelings as well as images to the viewer. Art has been used to evoke many different emotions and sensations, but until now, art has never sought to intentionally invoke annoyance in the viewer. We, the Children of the Sparky School of Art are looking to create works that seek to lessen the barrier between viewer and artist, and make the entities on both sides of this ever-thinning barrier one in their mutual feelings of aggravation.

We Sparkists proclaim that annoyance is a valid emotion, too long shunned by society. Only through being irritated can one truly be in touch with him or herself, and really know those forces around him. Annoyance is everywhere. Modern convenience, with inventions such as "Suddenly Salad" and dog food that makes its own gravy have added new forms of annoyance to modern culture, while at the same time attempting to do away with certain inconvenient annoyances. This is the paradox of convenience culture. Sparkyists wish to connect with this force in the universe, and exploit it.
